CSU's Birgit Huber Resigns; Marco Haas Named Mayor Candidate

Birgit Huber, the former CSU's First Mayor of Oberasbach, has resigned from her position effective October 6, 2025. Her departure has led to a chain of changes in local politics. Meanwhile, Marco Haas has been nominated as the CSU's candidate for Mayor in the 2026 municipal election.

Birgit Huber's resignation was due to personal reasons and her decision to pursue a new career path. Landrat Bernd Obst thanked her for her long-standing and constructive cooperation. Following her resignation, Jens Ostendorf from Stein will replace Birgit Huber in the Kreistag. It's worth noting that Birgit Huber had previously announced she would not run for re-election as First Mayor in the 2026 municipal election. However, her decision to leave the CSU party after not being renominated as their candidate for Mayor in the 2026 election came as a surprise to many.

In other news, Kreisrat Bernd Klaski has resigned from his position in the Kreistag due to a change of residence from Zirndorf to Nuremberg. Günther Müller from Ammerndorf will replace him as Kreisrat. However, there is no information provided about Günther Müller becoming a new councilor in Oberasbach.

Birgit Huber's resignation and subsequent departure from the CSU have opened up new opportunities for others in the local political landscape. Marco Haas's nomination as the CSU's candidate for Mayor in the 2026 municipal election signals a new chapter in Oberasbach's politics. Meanwhile, Günther Müller's appointment as Kreisrat following Bernd Klaski's resignation indicates a shift in the Kreistag as well.
