Cuba and Vietnam Strengthen Military Ties Ahead of 65th Diplomatic Anniversary
A delegation of young officers from Cuba’s Revolutionary Armed Forces is currently visiting Vietnam as part of a two-week official trip. The visit, running from November 26 to December 8, marks another step in strengthening ties between the two nations. Both countries are also preparing to celebrate the 65th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2025.
The visit began with a friendship exchange and dialogue in Hanoi, co-chaired by Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quang Huy of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and Colonel Fernando Quivillet Loyola of Cuba’s Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR). The event focused on reinforcing the traditional bond between the two nations while deepening defense cooperation.
The visit underscores the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, with a focus on training the next generation of military leaders. Concrete agreements in science, technology, and cybersecurity are expected to shape future cooperation. Both sides will continue working together ahead of the 65th anniversary of their diplomatic ties next year.
