Cyclist and pedestrian collide in Berlin’s Mitte, both hospitalized with head injuries
A collision between a cyclist and a pedestrian left both men injured in Berlin’s Mitte district early this morning. The incident occurred near Bona-Peiser-Weg, with emergency services responding shortly after 1 a.m.
The 33-year-old cyclist was travelling along Köpenicker Straße toward Engeldamm when the crash happened. According to initial reports, the pedestrian—a 37-year-old man—stepped into the bike lane, triggering the collision.
Both individuals suffered head injuries as a result. The pedestrian required hospital admission for further treatment, while the cyclist was treated as an outpatient. The case is now under investigation by the specialised traffic crimes unit of Directorate 5 (City). Authorities have not yet released further details on the cause or liability.
The incident adds to ongoing concerns about road safety in the area. Investigators will examine the circumstances before determining any next steps. No charges have been filed at this stage.
