Cyclist and pedestrian collide in Berlin’s Mitte, both hospitalized with head injuries

A collision between a cyclist and a pedestrian left both men injured in Berlin’s Mitte district early this morning. The incident occurred near Bona-Peiser-Weg, with emergency services responding shortly after 1 a.m.

The 33-year-old cyclist was travelling along Köpenicker Straße toward Engeldamm when the crash happened. According to initial reports, the pedestrian—a 37-year-old man—stepped into the bike lane, triggering the collision.

Both individuals suffered head injuries as a result. The pedestrian required hospital admission for further treatment, while the cyclist was treated as an outpatient. The case is now under investigation by the specialised traffic crimes unit of Directorate 5 (City). Authorities have not yet released further details on the cause or liability.
