Daniel Flemm Elected Mayor of Solingen with 57.75% of Votes
Daniel Flemm (CDU) has been elected Mayor of Solingen, winning the runoff with 57.75% of the votes. Flemm, who will also lead the CDU faction, was celebrated by supporters even before the official announcement. He expressed gratitude and emotion upon winning the election.
Flemm plans to tackle central topics such as economic promotion restructuring, stronger public order service, and administrative reform. He emphasized the importance of unity and expressed willingness to cooperate across party lines in the coming years.
Outgoing Mayor Tim Kurzbach (SPD) wished the new office holder all the best for the benefit of the city. Flemm praised outgoing SPD candidate Josef Neumann's gesture and honored his role as a member of the state parliament in Düsseldorf. Neumann received 42.25% of the votes.
The new chairman of the CDU faction in Solingen, which will be led by Daniel Flemm, is Carsten Voigt. He was unanimously elected on October 7, 2025, succeeding Oberbürgermeister Daniel Flemm who passed the baton to him after becoming mayor.
The voter turnout was 35.89% with 43,584 valid and 704 invalid votes. Flemm, who was invited onto the stage by Josef Neumann to address the media and visitors together, is set to organize his faction and prepare for assumption of office.
