Daring Moscow car burglary nets thieves 10M rubles in luxury goods
Police in the Moscow region have arrested three men after a bold car burglary in a shopping centre parking lot. The suspects allegedly stole luxury watches, electronics, and over 10 million rubles in cash from a vehicle. Security footage captured the break-in and their swift escape with a briefcase.
The incident unfolded near a shopping mall on Kashirskoye Highway. Surveillance cameras recorded the trio forcing their way into a black car before grabbing a backpack containing high-value items. Among the stolen goods were designer watches, a laptop, a mobile phone, and a large sum of money.
The detainees include two local residents—one from Klin and another from Lyubertsy—as well as a 27-year-old man from a South Caucasus country. Their ages range from 27 to 47. Authorities have since charged them under Part 4 of Article 158 of the Russian Criminal Code, which covers theft committed by a group.
A court has ordered all three suspects to be held in custody while the investigation continues. No other similar high-profile thefts in the Moscow region have been reported in the past year.
The case now moves forward with the suspects in pre-trial detention. If convicted, they face significant penalties under Russian law. The stolen property, including the cash and luxury items, remains the focus of the ongoing police inquiry.
