Optec's growth is not limited to the Lombardy region. The company, known for providing "the eye" of the Dart mission, has secured a major contract with the U.S. Defense, worth five years of work, which aims to triple its revenues in a few years. Optec has also secured other contracts with Leonardo and the Indian government for further growth.

The growth of the Lombardy aerospace sector is also reflected in its exports, which have reached an all-time high. As many as 30 countries exceed €10 million in annual sector exports, with the UK, Poland, and the US leading in size. The sector's revenues are solid due to a wide geographical diversification.

Other regions in Italy, such as Umbria, are also focusing on growing their aerospace sector through clusters and innovation hubs, focusing on cutting-edge technologies and hydrogen-ready components. However, the growth in Lombardy is particularly noteworthy, with the sector employing 22,000 people and generating 6.3 billion in revenue across 215 companies.
