Deadly A1 motorway crash leaves one dead and another critically injured
Emergency services responded to a fatal traffic accident on the A1 motorway near Elsdorf late on Sunday evening. The Sottrum Volunteer Fire Department and emergency medical services were deployed to the scene, where a 27-year-old driver from Weyhe lost their life and a 51-year-old driver from Delmenhorst was severely injured.
The incident occurred when the 27-year-old's vehicle collided with the 51-year-old's VW near the Grundbergsee service area. The crash resulted in operational fluids leaking from one of the vehicles. Ten personnel and three fire vehicles were swiftly dispatched to secure the scene.
Fire crews worked diligently to contain the spilled fluids, disconnect the vehicle's battery to prevent further hazards, and illuminate the area. They also provided assistance to the emergency medical services, which arrived with three ambulances and one patient transport vehicle. After over an hour of meticulous work, the fire crews successfully cleared the scene.
The fatal accident on the A1 motorway has claimed the life of one individual and left another severely injured. The prompt response and efficient management of the scene by the Sottrum Volunteer Fire Department and emergency medical services helped ensure the safety of all involved and allowed for the timely transportation of the injured driver to the hospital.
