Deadly Berlin car crash kills 22-year-old driver in Altglienicke
A 22-year-old man died in a car crash early on Wednesday in Berlin’s Altglienicke neighbourhood. The accident happened just before 3 a.m. on Germanenstraße, near its junction with Frankenstraße. The driver of the car max lost control of his vehicle, hitting the curb before veering off the road. His car then struck two street trees and finally came to rest against a garden gate. Emergency services arrived quickly but could not save him—he suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The case has since been transferred to the traffic investigation unit of Police Directorate 3 (East) for further review. The road has since reopened, but authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the car crash. The victim’s identity has not yet been publicly released.
