Three Killed in Traffic Accident in Lower Saxony
Deadly Head-On Crash on L 282 Kills Three in Lower Saxony
Three people died in a serious traffic accident on Monday morning on the L 282 between Lachtehausen and Lachendorf in Lower Saxony, police in Celle confirmed.
According to initial findings, a 44-year-old female driver veered into oncoming traffic for reasons still under investigation at around 11:10 a.m. Despite evasive maneuvers, the driver of an oncoming truck was unable to avoid a head-on collision. The woman and her two 18-year-old passengers died at the scene from severe injuries. The 50-year-old truck driver sustained minor injuries.
Firefighters deployed multiple units to the scene. The L 282 was fully closed between Lachtehausen and the roundabout at Celler Straße/Garßener Straße for recovery operations, with traffic diverted. The road remained shut into the afternoon. Property damage is estimated at around €55,000. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
