Dechow's 'Let's Boule!' Wins €5,000 at 'make!' Competition
The 'Let's Boule!' project by the Dechow Community Support Association has been recognised at the 'make!' competition in Berlin. The project was one of 200 selected by a nine-member jury this year, earning the association €5,000 in the 'Engagement for More Quality of Life and Good Cohesion' category.
State Minister Elisabeth Kaiser commended the 'make!' competition for bolstering social cohesion in Eastern Germany. The Dechow association's prize money will be used to construct a boules court and fund various innovative, low-threshold participation and cultural formats. These initiatives aim to foster creativity, community spirit, and perseverance, ultimately strengthening local cohesion.
The 'make!' competition, held for the sixth time this year, has awarded over 560 project ideas since 2019, supporting them with a total of €2.7 million. The 'Mobile Youth Club' association from Wismar was also recognised in Northwest Mecklenburg for transforming a bus into a mobile disco. The project was honoured by the Federal Government's Commissioner for the East and the German Foundation for Engagement and Volunteering.
The 'Let's Boule!' project, awarded at the 'make!' competition, will use its €5,000 prize to build a boules court and fund creative, community-driven initiatives. This investment aims to enhance local cohesion and quality of life in Dechow.
