DEGEWO to Build 350 Affordable Apartments in Southern Berlin
DEGEWO is set to build 350 affordable apartments at Lichterfelder Ring in southern Berlin. The project, planned at the border of Tempelhof-Schöneberg and Steglitz-Zehlendorf districts, includes a kindergarten, refugee shelter, and play areas. Construction could start as early as 2023, pending planning stages.
The architectural firms Rellecke & Brock and Bormann & Koll are tasked with developing the binding planning for the residential project. The office Arnold and Gladisch has been chosen to create the master plan for the site. The new quarter aims to be open and spacious, encouraging interaction among residents.
The nearest S-Bahn station is about two kilometers away, making bus lines and cars the primary modes of transportation. City councilor for urban development, Angelika Schöttler, has expressed determination to push forward this housing project. DEGEWO hopes for an optimistic start of construction in 2023.
DEGEWO's Lichterfelder Ring project promises 350 affordable apartments, along with community facilities. With construction potentially starting in 2023, the project aims to provide much-needed housing in southern Berlin.
