DeKalb County Hosts Town Hall on Data Center Impact
DeKalb County is inviting residents to a town hall meeting on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Porter Sanford Performing Arts Center in Decatur. The event aims to discuss the potential construction of data centers in the area and their impact on neighborhoods.
Data centers, which store vast amounts of internet data, require substantial power and water to function. The town hall offers residents the chance to learn more about these facilities and their possible effects on local communities.
Currently, the county has extended a moratorium on data center applications until Dec. 16. This pause allows time for further discussion and planning regarding the construction and operation of these centers.
The town hall meeting on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Porter Sanford Performing Arts Center in Decatur is open to all residents. It provides an opportunity to engage in dialogue about the potential impact of data centers on the area and to ask questions about their operation.
