Denton’s Trailblazing Police Chief Jessica Robledo Announces Retirement in 2025
Denton’s first female police chief, Jessica Robledo, will retire early next year. Her departure follows a recent family bereavement and marks the end of a long career in law enforcement. The city now prepares for a leadership transition within the department.
Robledo took charge of the Denton Police Department on September 12, 2024. Before this role, she spent 30 years at the Austin Police Department, rising to assistant chief. She later served four years with the Pflugerville Police Department before resigning in 2021.
The department will soon operate under interim leadership. Hensley’s proposal aims to ensure a smooth transition before a permanent replacement is found. Robledo’s retirement concludes a career spanning over three decades in Texas law enforcement.
