Freaky Flying Drones Caught Crawling Over Elite Navy Ship

In an intriguing turn of events, footage of six mysterious drones cruising over the USS Zumwalt, a top-notch warship, has been made public. This thrilling chase played out off the coast of Southern California in April 2019. The USS Zumwalt is the leader of an exclusive class of controversial stealth surface combatants, making its role quite unique during certain operations. Its stealth technology allows it to sneak closer to enemy territory than other destroyers, boosting its survivability.

This eye-opening video comes as part of an investigation into unexplained drone swarms near Navy ships in 2019, off the sunny shores of California. Earlier updates on the probe revealed fascinating details about these mysterious events, such as declassified videos and photos. Although most drone swarms took place in July 2019, reliable sources have tipped us off about several unsettling incidents earlier in the year, one of which involved the USS Zumwalt. The drama unfolded approximately 17 nautical miles from Camp Pendleton on April 24, 2019, around 8:30 pm Pacific Time.

The Report

A keen-eyed USS Zumwalt crew spotted up to half a dozen unmanned aerial systems (UAS) skimming the surface of the water during the incident. At one point, they even crossed the deck of the USS Zumwalt. Sailors from SNOOPIE, the Nautical or Photographic Boat Interpretation and Exploitation team, documented the drones, much like they did during similar previous incidents. These sailors use a mix of commercial cameras to document risks, ambiguities, and unusual situations. Check out a sailor's account of the incident and view new footage here:

Time for Better Video Quality!

Since the video was captured at night, it's tricky to analyze it thoroughly. Although the USS Zumwalt had access to numerous sophisticated sensors during the incident, unclassified records released to the public often disappoint. The only clear feature in the video is a rectangular array of various lights. White and green light can be seen, and a red light flashes intermittently in the center.

Unlike other cases where Navy personnel, including fighter pilots, claimed to have spotted objects acting unlike any human-crafted aircraft, this time, it seems we aren't staring at a mystery. So, does it mean the Navy is quick to release these videos, considering their well-known nature? The War Zone suggests this as part of refuting stories of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs). David Kovar, the CEO of URSA Inc., a firm that tackles drone safety issues, couldn't pinpoint the aircraft's configuration. However, judging by the regular light placement, it appears to be a multirotor drone, likely a quadcopter.

Still, under new regulations for the Pentagon office investigating UFOs, these types of incidents must be dismissed as swiftly as possible to give precedence to those that cannot be identified as man-made objects—UAPs, for short.

The drones suspected to have been spotted on the USS Zumwalt might have originated from the technology sector, considering their unmanned nature. During the investigation into drone swarms near Navy ships in 2019, questions regarding financial and industrial backing could arise, as these incidents might involve advanced aerospace technology.
