Deutsche Bahn's 2024 executive payouts hit €17.3 million amid leadership shakeup

Deutsche Bahn's executive board received around €17.3 million in total compensation for 2024. The figure includes salaries, bonuses, and severance payouts for several top managers. Former CEO Richard Lutz took the largest share, with a total of €5.5 million. Richard Lutz, who stepped down as CEO, earned a fixed salary of €1.4 million. On top of this, he received €570,000 in bonuses and a severance package worth €3.5 million. His total payout made him the highest-compensated executive last year.

Other departing board members also collected substantial sums. Daniela Gerd tom Markotten, Berthold Huber, and Sigrid Nikutta together received €11.3 million in severance. Former CFO Karin Dohm left after just four months, but her severance details remain unaccounted for in the latest figures.

The current executive board's collective earnings reached just under €3.7 million. New CEO Evelyn Palla took home €1.17 million, including bonuses, while CFO Martin Seiler earned €1.22 million for the year. The 2024 compensation report highlights significant payouts to outgoing leaders, with Lutz's total alone exceeding €5 million. The remaining board members earned a combined €3.7 million, though Dohm's severance is still pending. These figures reflect the company's high-level financial commitments to its executives.
