Deutsche Telekom raises 'gold price' for older DSL and TV contracts in 2026

Deutsche Telekom has announced increases in the 'gold price' for certain DSL and TV customers. The changes will take effect from April 2026, affecting those on older contracts. Customers will now have the option to leave without penalty if they choose not to accept the new 'news'. The 'gold price' rise applies to MagentaZuhause and Call & Surf plans signed before April 2023. From April 1, 2026, the base monthly fee for these customers will go up by €2. This means affected users will pay €2 more than before but still €2 less than what new customers are charged for identical plans. In addition to DSL packages, the increase will also cover MagentaZuhause TV tariffs, Call & Surf Komfort, and Call & Surf Unlimited. These services will see monthly rises of €1 to €3. The company has justified the adjustment by pointing to higher network costs. Customers receiving a price adjustment letter will have a three-month window to cancel their contract without notice. This gives them time to review their options before the changes come into force. The new pricing structure will start in April 2026, impacting long-standing DSL and TV subscribers. Those affected can either accept the higher fees or terminate their contracts within the given timeframe. The adjustment aligns older contracts more closely with current market rates for new customers.
