Dharmendra stable after health scare, family seeks privacy amid recovery

Veteran actor Dharmendra is currently under medical observation at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital due to respiratory complications. His daughter, actress Esha Deol, has confirmed that he is stable and recovering, requesting privacy for the family. Rumors of his death circulated earlier this month, leading Esha to issue a clarification on social media.

Dharmendra, known for his iconic roles in films like 'Sholay' and 'Deewar', had a brief political career. He joined the BJP in 2004 and was elected as an MP from Bikaner, Rajasthan, in the 14th Lok Sabha. However, he expressed regret about his political foray after completing his term in 2009, stating that he was more suited to his artistic pursuits.

Despite his limited political participation, Dharmendra has been vocal about social issues. He expressed solidarity with farmers during the 2021 farmers' protest through social media. In 2019, he campaigned for his son Sunny Deol, who contested from Gurdaspur on a BJP ticket. After his retirement from political life, there is no information available about his activities until his recent hospitalization.

As Dharmendra continues to recover, fans and well-wishers await his return to the screen. His next film, 'Ikkis', is slated for a release on December 25. Despite his political past, Dharmendra has always identified himself as an artist and patriot first.
