DHL has confirmed it will not grant exemptions from peak-season surcharges for small businesses. The company cited legal risks as the main reason for this decision. At the same time, it has raised concerns over low postage rates and tighter regulations affecting its operations.

DHL currently imposes extra fees on businesses shipping parcels during busy periods, such as Christmas. The company has defended these surcharges, arguing they help manage high demand. However, it ruled out special treatment for smaller firms, warning that exemptions could lead to legal disputes.

DHL’s decision means all businesses will pay peak surcharges without exception. The company insists these measures are necessary to fund its modernisation plans. Without regulatory adjustments or higher revenues, it warns that Germany’s postal system could face long-term challenges.
