Dholai Honors Sardar Patel’s 150th Anniversary with Unity March and Green Pledge

Dholai, Cachar, recently celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with a grand Unity March and plantation drive. The event, themed 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam', saw over a thousand participants and was flagged off by MP Parimal Suklabaidya, MLA Nihar Ranjan Das, and Co-District Commissioner Roktim Baruah.

The Unity March spread messages of peace, harmony, and self-reliance. It concluded with a plantation drive, symbolising a pledge for a greener and united India. The event also featured a Swadeshi Mela, organised by Self Help Groups, promoting local crafts under the 'Vocal for Local' initiative. Cultural performances by local artists, including Bihu, Dhamail, and Manipuri dances, added colour to the celebrations.

Speaking at the event, MP Parimal Suklabaidya praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to honour Patel's legacy through the Statue of Unity and the Run for Unity programme. Co-District Commissioner Roktim Baruah highlighted Patel's life as a roadmap for unity and development. MLA Nihar Ranjan Das urged young people to follow Patel's ideals of discipline, nationalism, and self-reliance.

The 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Dholai was marked by unity, culture, and a commitment to the environment. The event honoured Patel's legacy and inspired participants to embrace his values of unity, discipline, and self-reliance.
