Dibrugarh tea shop raid exposes hidden illegal liquor trade behind sweet shop facade
A raid on a tea shop-cum-hotel in Dibrugarh has uncovered a major illegal liquor operation. Police seized a large stock of foreign alcohol hidden behind the facade of a sweet shop and small eatery. Two brothers, Mukesh Shah and Rakesh Shah, were arrested in connection with the case. The operation began after authorities received a tip-off about suspicious activity at the hotel. Located opposite a Shani Temple, the establishment had long been suspected of running an illicit liquor trade under the cover of a legitimate business. When officers searched the premises, they found a significant quantity of smuggled foreign liquor. The raid has highlighted concerns about illegal liquor sales in the area. Authorities are now focusing on tighter monitoring and public awareness to curb such activities. The case remains under investigation as police gather further evidence.
