Dibrugarh’s Unity March honors Sardar Patel’s legacy with mass participation
A grand Unity March was held in Dibrugarh on November 8, 2020, to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's 150th birth anniversary. Led by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the march saw strong participation from citizens, students, and local organizations, appreciatively noted by Minister Prasanta Phukan.
The march started from Chowkidinghee Field and concluded at the town auditorium, where floral tributes were paid to Sardar Patel's portrait. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, known for being the first Union Minister from Assam and serving as the Chief Minister of Assam from 2016 to 2021, praised Patel's leadership in bringing together diverse princely states after independence. The main event aimed to remember Patel's contribution to uniting the nation and to inspire people to uphold his vision of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat'.
Assam Ministers Prasanta Phukan and Bimal Borah also participated in the march. Phukan appreciated the strong participation of people from different walks of life. Borah said the march showed Assam's unity and shared commitment to national integrity. The events near me ended with a collective pledge to follow Patel's ideals of unity, strength, and service to the nation. The rally observed a minute of silence in Patel's memory and was filled with patriotic songs and slogans.
