Diehl Aviation Breaks Ground on New Production Facility in Craiova
Diehl Aviation, a leading global partner in the aviation industry, officially began construction on its new production facility in Craiova, Romania, on July 30, 2025. The new facility, scheduled for completion within 12 months, will primarily manufacture products and components for passenger aircraft for leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
The 33,500 square meter facility will be built within the Craiova Business Park, a strategic location that encourages innovation, improves operational efficiency, and supports long-term sustainability for both local and international industries. The Business Park, developed by Global Vision, offers scalable infrastructure for industrial production and logistics.
The Craiova Business Park, located at the northern exit of the city with direct access to the E79 national road, spans 15 hectares. The recent addition of Diehl Aviation to the Craiova Business Park reinforces Dolj County's position as a dynamic hub for industrial development.
Global Vision has been appointed as the development partner for Diehl Aviation's new production facility. The project will be delivered by Global Vision as a turnkey development, including shell & core, structural works, and full interior fit-out. The facility will include a 12,000 square meter building, with approximately 2,500 square meters dedicated to Class A+ office space.
Initially, the facility is expected to employ roughly 75 staff, with plans to grow to around 500 employees medium-term. The investment is described as a mid-double-digit million euro amount, reflecting a strategic move to expand Diehl Aviation's manufacturing footprint in the European aerospace and defense industry and capitalize on Craiova’s logistical advantages and skilled workforce.
Joerg Schuler, CEO of Diehl Aviation, stated that the new facility in Craiova represents a strategic investment in their future. Sorin Preda, CEO & Founder of Global Vision, stated that this collaboration is a key achievement in their investment fund's portfolio. The successful delivery of 6,000 square meters for Returo SGR, a key player in Romania's circular economy, further confirms Craiova's growing importance in the sector.
