Diesel spill shuts down lane on A65 motorway after truck crash near Karlsruhe
A serious traffic accident occurred on the A65 motorway near Karlsruhe this morning, causing significant disruption. The incident involved a semi-trailer truck and resulted in a diesel spill, with cleanup operations still ongoing.
The accident happened at around 10:10 a.m. when a 36-year-old Dutch driver lost control of his vehicle due to the low morning sun. The truck collided with the guardrail, rupturing the fuel tank and spilling approximately 400 liters of diesel onto the road. The extent of the damage is still being assessed.
The incident led to the closure of one lane on the A65, causing ongoing delays. Motorway maintenance crews are currently working to clear the spill and reopen the lane as soon as possible. The police, led by P. Herrmann from the Polizeiinspektion Edenkoben, are managing the operation and providing updates.
