Yakutia Railways and Ulaanbaatar Railway Collaborate on Locomotive Repairs

In a significant development for the rail industry, a meeting was held on August 3 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, between representatives of Yakutia Railways and JSC "Ulaanbaatar Railway". The focus of the meeting was on the technology of overhaul and medium repair of traction electric motors for locomotives.

Alexander Chuprov, Deputy Head of the Locomotive Service for Repairs of JSC "AK YR", attended the meeting. Bymbadordzh Bavuugar, Head of the Repair Department of the Traction Service at JSC "UBRD", and Bymbajav Enkhmand, Deputy Head of the Locomotive Depot for Repairs at JSC "UBRD", were also present.

The key topic of discussion was the repair of traction electric motors of the ED-118 and ED-133 series in overhaul and medium repair. The repair at the Aldan station locomotive depot in Yakutia is expected to extend the service life of these motors and partially reduce the need for services from third-party organizations.

During the meeting, representatives of JSC "UBRD" showed the production workshops and technology of the locomotive depot in Ulaanbaatar to Alexander Chuprov. Bymbadordzh Bavuugar and Bymbajav Enkhmand also gave a tour of their own locomotive depot to the Yakutia Railways representative.

The meeting aimed to exchange experience between the two railways. Following the meeting, representatives of the Mongolian Railway were invited to Yakutia, to the Aldan station locomotive depot for an experience exchange.

This issue is an important development direction for Yakutia Railways due to the planned opening of the electric machine shop. The collaboration between the two railways is expected to lead to advancements in locomotive repair technology and efficiency.

For the most current and precise information, it is recommended to consult official publications or press releases from Yakutia Railways and Ulaanbaatar Railway, industry news portals focused on Eurasian or Siberian rail transport, or technical bulletins or reports from railway engineering forums or associations.

Building upon the collaborative spirit, Yakutia Railways aims to delve deeper into the aerospace industry, seeking potential partnerships for spares and equipment that could benefit their locomotive repairs, leveraging Ulaanbaatar Railway's expertise.

In the quest to optimize finance, Yakutia Railways is contemplating joint ventures with other transportation sectors to secure funding for their planned electric machine shop, using lessons learned from the Ulaanbaatar Railway collaboration.
