Dominic Bäuerle named new head of city’s Education and Sports department
The city council has appointed Dominic Bäuerle as the new head of the Department of Education and Sports. He will take over from Gerhard Semler, who retires at the end of March. Lord Mayor Martin Ansbacher praised the decision and thanked Semler for his long-standing leadership in expanding the department.
Bäuerle currently leads the Social Security division in Ulm’s city administration. Before this role, he spent eight years as deputy head of the Department of Education and Sports in Pforzheim. His public service career began earlier in Schömberg, where he worked from 2007 to 2016 as deputy head of the Central and Personnel Office.
The transition will see Bäuerle step into his new position after Semler’s retirement. His background in both digital strategy and educational administration is expected to bring fresh direction to the department. The city council has confirmed his appointment with full support.
