Dortmund and Lünen Leaders Unite to Boost Public Safety Cooperation

Dortmund’s chief of police, Gregor Lange, met with Lünen’s newly elected mayor, Martina Förster-Teutenberg, at City Hall on November 27. The meeting marked their first working discussion to strengthen collaboration on public safety. Both leaders agreed that improving security in Lünen requires joint efforts between the police and local government.

The talks focused on aligning future cooperation between the Dortmund Police Headquarters and Lünen’s administration. Lange and Förster-Teutenberg highlighted the need for open dialogue with residents to address concerns, increase transparency, and build trust. They noted that while crime statistics indicate Lünen remains objectively safe, many citizens still worry about their personal security.

The Security Conference on December 2 will bring together police and city officials to tackle safety concerns. Residents’ worries, despite low crime figures, remain a priority for both Lange and Förster-Teutenberg. The event marks a step toward stronger cooperation and clearer communication between authorities and the public.
