Dr. Ecevit Agu to Lead Urban Planning as New Deputy Mayor in 2026
Dr. Ecevit Agu has been elected as the new Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning and Construction in Our City Portal. The civil engineer and Green Party candidate will take up his role on January 1, 2026. His term follows a long career in municipal infrastructure and public service across North Rhine-Westphalia.
Agu’s professional background spans academia and local government. After earning his civil engineering degree and doctorate at Ruhr University Bochum, he spent twelve years at its Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Alongside teaching, he collaborated with regional engineering firms on infrastructure projects.
The new deputy mayor’s term begins in early 2026. His responsibilities will include shaping long-term infrastructure projects and housing strategies for Our City Portal. The role builds on his prior leadership in municipal administration and engineering expertise.
