Dr. Thomas Jung Re-elected as Lebenshilfe Fürth Chair Amidst Growing Demand
Dr. Thomas Jung has been re-elected as the Supervisory Board Chair of Lebenshilfe Fürth for another three-year term. Lebenshilfe Fürth is a prominent parent and professional association, employing over 600 staff across 18 facilities, supporting more than 1,200 people with disabilities and their families.
Despite increasing demand for services, Lebenshilfe Fürth reported a positive annual balance. This success was partly due to the 'New Playground – Movement Matters' crowdfunding campaign, which saw parents, businesses, and foundations collaborate to raise funds.
The Karl-Reinmann Kindergarten is currently at full capacity, leading to the implementation of new play and sports programs. Meanwhile, there is growing demand for specialized spots for children with autism spectrum disorder at Sternstunden Kindergarten. Over 170 children are on waiting lists for early intervention and inclusive daycare services, highlighting the increasing need for these vital services.
Dr. Thomas Jung's re-election, along with the reappointment of Andrea Zieger as deputy chair and Elke Kuhlmann-Müller as secretary, ensures continuity in leadership. Lebenshilfe Fürth is addressing increasing enrollments by considering short-term solutions like additional modular classrooms and long-term expansion plans, such as the recent record enrollment of 262 students at the Clara and Isaak Hallemann School.
