Dreieichenhain reclaims Faselstall for €2 million after public campaign

The city of Dreieichenhain has agreed to repurchase the historic Faselstall property for around €2 million. The move follows months of discussions between local groups, the city council, and the owner. Residents had campaigned to keep the site in public hands after its sale in 1998.

In November 2023, roughly 500 people called for the Faselstall to remain open for community use. Behind-the-scenes talks soon began, involving the GHV-led initiative, city officials, Mayor Martin Burlon, and property owner Frank Fäth. Burlon convinced Fäth not to sell outright, giving the local group until Easter to finalise their plans.

The city’s decision secures the Faselstall’s future as a community space. Restoration work will begin once the purchase is finalised, with the GHV coordinating efforts. Success now depends on continued public support and financial contributions.
