Dresden invests €100,000 yearly to integrate Ukrainian refugees by 2026
Dresden's city council has allocated €100,000 annually for the Ukraine project, aiming to strengthen the integration of the approximately 8,100 Ukrainian refugees who fled to the city following Russia's invasion in 2022. Around 10,000 Ukrainians now reside in Dresden. The project is a joint effort by the Foreigners’ Council Dresden and Plattform Dresden e. V.
The budget will be split evenly between the two organizations. The Foreigners’ Council will manage the coordination office until the end of 2026, addressing the specific needs of Ukrainian clients. After that, the Migration Social Work will provide contact points for long-term integration support. Plattform Dresden will implement measures to promote social and civic integration. Job centers, schools, and local associations will continue to play a key role in facilitating successful integration. The city has ensured access to the labor market and social institutions for Ukrainian refugees. The Ukraine project will serve as a guidance hub, focusing on coordination and integration support.
The Ukraine project in Dresden is set to improve the lives of Ukrainian refugees, with €100,000 allocated annually. The Foreigners’ Council and Plattform Dresden will collaborate to ensure refugees have access to necessary resources and support for their integration into the city.
