Dresden’s migrant residency initiative wins national acclaim for integration success
A Dresden-based initiative aiding migrants to secure long-term residency has gained national recognition. The 'Perspective on Residency Rights Dresden' project was selected by the federal government as part of the 'Growing Together: Bright Ideas for Labor Market Integration 2025' competition. It had already earned the 'Proven Locally' award for its work in supporting social participation and successful arrival.
The project launched in March 2024 as a key part of Dresden’s Integration Action Plan 2022–2026. Its aim is to reduce the number of long-term tolerated cases by offering tailored legal and structural support. By the end of June 2025, it had provided 567 consultations to individuals from 29 different countries.
The project’s recognition reflects its impact on migrant integration and labor market access. With hundreds already assisted, it continues to break down barriers for those seeking stable residency. The initiative remains a fixed part of Dresden’s long-term integration strategy.
