Driver assaulted in Mainz after confronting car intruder late Saturday
A driver was assaulted in Mainz's Old Town late on Saturday evening, leaving them with facial injuries. The attack happened around 10 p.m. on Rheinstraße, where an unknown assailant targeted the victim after attempting to enter their car.
The incident began when the suspect, described as bald, around 1.9 metres tall, and wearing dark clothing, was seen moving between parked cars on Rheinstraße. He approached the victim's vehicle and tried to get inside. When the driver refused and asked him to leave, the man turned aggressive.
The attacker kicked the car, causing damage, before assaulting the driver. The victim suffered facial injuries as a result. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect lingering in the area before the assault took place. Police have opened an investigation but have not yet made any arrests. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact Mainz 1 Police Station. So far, no further updates or leads have been reported since the incident.
The search for the suspect continues, with police relying on witness accounts to piece together the events. The attacker remains at large, and the victim's injuries are being treated. Anyone who saw the man on Rheinstraße or has relevant details is encouraged to assist the investigation.
