A 50-year-old driver was arrested on the A6 motorway in Bavaria’s Upper Palatinate region after police discovered around €80,000 in cash hidden in his car. The man now faces money laundering charges and remains in pretrial detention following a judge’s warrant.
Plainclothes officers pulled over the vehicle after noticing suspicious behaviour. During the stop, the driver gave inconsistent statements, raising further concerns. A search of the car revealed the cash stashed inside the centre console.
Investigators suspect the man intended to smuggle the money into the Czech Republic. His identity has not been released in official reports.
The driver was taken into custody shortly after the discovery. Authorities continue to examine the case, with the seized funds held as evidence. The investigation remains ongoing.
