Driver with 80,000 Euros in Cash on A6 - Driver with 80,000 Euros in Cash on A6
Police in Bavaria have arrested a 50-year-old man after discovering €80,000 hidden in his car. The driver was stopped during a routine check on the A6 motorway near Pleystein, close to the Czech border. Authorities suspect he was attempting to smuggle the cash into the neighbouring country.
The incident took place on the A6 in Bavaria’s Upper Palatinate region. Officers pulled over the vehicle for a standard inspection but soon uncovered a concealed compartment in the centre console. Inside, they found bundles of cash totalling around €80,000.
When questioned, the driver failed to give a convincing account of where the money had come from. This raised suspicions, and investigators concluded he may have been planning to transport the funds across the border. He was subsequently arrested on charges of money laundering. Following his detention, the man was placed in pretrial custody while the investigation continues.
The case remains under active investigation by Bavarian authorities. The driver’s inability to explain the cash’s origin and the hidden compartment’s location have strengthened suspicions of illegal activity. If convicted, he could face serious penalties under money laundering laws.
