Police in Bavaria have detained a 50-year-old man after discovering €80,000 in cash hidden inside a stolen car. The vehicle was stopped during a routine check on the A6 motorway near the Czech border. Authorities suspect the driver of money laundering and attempted smuggling into the Czech Republic.

The incident began when officers pulled over the car in Bavaria’s Upper Palatinate region. The vehicle had been flagged as stolen in Italy, raising immediate suspicion. During the search, police found €80,000 stashed in the centre console.

The driver behaved nervously and gave conflicting statements about the money. He failed to provide a convincing explanation for its origin, which remains unknown. His erratic behaviour and inconsistent answers led to his arrest. A judge later issued a warrant for pretrial detention.
