Drunk driver arrested after chaotic rampage and racist outburst in Menden
A 51-year-old man from Menden was arrested on Sunday evening after witnesses reported erratic driving on Bräuckerweg. The driver, later identified, appeared intoxicated and caused a disturbance. The man, driving a car, repeatedly crossed the centre line and drove over a traffic island. Police were called and arrived at a pizzeria on Laventiestraße where they found the suspect. He refused to take a breathalyzer test and resisted arrest, requiring backup from other officers. The man was aggressive and tried to intimidate the police, later using racist slurs. Charges were filed for resisting law enforcement, endangering traffic by driving under the influence, and insulting police officers. Other affected road users are urged to contact the police at 02373/9099-0 or 02371/9199-0. The driver was taken for a blood test following the incident. The head of the press department of the Cologne Police Directorate Märkischer Kreis could not be reached for comment, as no publicly available information was found. The man's actions put other road users at risk, and his aggressive behaviour towards the police is under investigation.
