With over two promille - Man flees after accident - Drunk driver crashes employer’s van after nightclub ejection and prior ban
A 23-year-old man from Kaufbeuren was caught driving his employer's van while heavily intoxicated. Police stopped him after he crashed into hedges and swerved off the road multiple times. The incident occurred despite him having no valid licence due to a previous drink-driving ban. The man had been ejected from a nightclub before getting behind the wheel. His blood alcohol level exceeded 0.2%, well over the legal limit. While attempting to flee, he caused an estimated €5,000 in damage to the van. Initially, he tried to hide from officers but was later found with the help of his employer. Authorities confirmed he was already barred from driving following an earlier drunk-driving conviction. The van suffered significant damage during the incident. Police have taken further action against the driver, though his employer's supervisor has not been publicly named. The case highlights the risks of repeat drink-driving offences.
