Drunk driver crashes stolen Renault in Berlin supermarket parking lot
A 49-year-old man was arrested in Berlin-Wedding after a traffic accident involving a suspected stolen Renault. The incident occurred at a supermarket parking lot on Reinickendorfer Straße, causing damage to both the vehicle and a support column.
The man, who was not the registered owner of the Renault, was found to have no car keys or driver's license. He crashed the car into the column, resulting in property damage. Police are investigating whether the suspect is connected to the theft of the vehicle, which was registered to an owner who parked it in nearby Sprengelstraße and had no knowledge of the suspect. A blood test revealed that the man's blood alcohol level exceeded 3.9 per mille.
The 49-year-old man was taken into custody following the incident. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and the suspected theft of the vehicle.
