Drunk driving suspected after Škoda Fabia crashes near Merklingen

A motorist struck a guardrail while driving under the influence early Thursday morning.

At around 12:15 a.m. on Thursday, a 21-year-old man was driving his Škoda Fabia from Scharenstetten toward Merklingen when, due to alcohol impairment, he veered left off the road and began to skid. His car collided with a guardrail and a traffic sign. Fortunately, the driver escaped unharmed. Ulm police recorded the incident and took a blood sample to determine his exact blood alcohol level. The estimated damage amounts to approximately €8,000.
