Drunk duo arrested after violent robbery attempt at Berlin U-Bahn station
Two men were arrested in Berlin’s Wedding district after allegedly attempting to rob two victims at Seestraße U-Bahn station. The suspects, both heavily intoxicated, demanded cash before police intervened following a call from the victims.
The incident began when the two suspects approached a 41-year-old and a 52-year-old near the station. One of the attackers grabbed the older victim by the collar while demanding money. The victims refused to hand anything over and immediately contacted the police.
Officers arrived quickly and detained both suspects. Tests later revealed the 41-year-old suspect had a blood alcohol level of just over 0.3%, while the 48-year-old registered nearly 0.4%. Their intoxication was noted as severe during the arrest. The two men have since been transferred to the specialised unit of Police Directorate 1 (North) for further investigation.
The suspects remain in custody as authorities examine the case. Their high blood alcohol levels and the nature of the confrontation will likely form part of the ongoing inquiry. No further details about the investigation have been released at this stage.
