On March 27, 2026, at 10:15 p.m., a rear-end collision occurred near the Neustadt an der Weinstraße-South interchange on the A65 autobahn toward Ludwigshafen, involving a BMW and a Mercedes.
The Mercedes driver, who caused the accident, fled the scene without fulfilling his legal obligations.
Since the vehicle's license plate was known, officers from the Speyer Police Station went to the registered owner's address. There, they quickly determined the reason for the driver's flight: he was under the influence of alcohol and did not hold a valid driver's license.
During subsequent police procedures, the man resisted the officers.
The 65-year-old Mercedes driver now faces multiple criminal charges.
