Dubai-based airline, Flydubai, was celebrated at the Aviation Achievement Awards, receiving two significant accolades
In a grand ceremony held in Dubai, flydubai was honoured with the prestigious title of "Airline of the Year" for the second year running. The awards ceremony also recognised flydubai with the "Trailblazer Award for Outstanding New Service Launch".
The event brought together key figures from the travel and aviation sectors, as they celebrated flydubai's continued success. Attendees included francois Oberholzer, CFO at flydubai, Rashid Albashri, Vice President of Cargo, and Diana Sinclair, Vice President of Inflight Experience.
The airline's growth is evident in its expanding fleet and new service enhancements. As of 2024, flydubai operates a fleet of 88 Boeing 737s, serving over 130 destinations across 55 countries. In January 2024, flydubai launched a multimillion-dollar cabin retrofit program for its 25 Next-Generation Boeing 737 aircraft. This initiative, spearheaded by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, aims to elevate the travel experience.
One of the most anticipated enhancements is the new Business Class Lounge at Dubai International's Terminal 2, scheduled to be available by December 2024. The new Business Class check-in area was unveiled by flydubai in October 2024.
The success of flydubai can be attributed to its expanding global network and continuous investment in improving the customer experience. francois Oberholzer, expressing pride in the recognition, emphasized flydubai's dedication to customer-centric innovation. The airline continues to set new industry benchmarks, solidifying Dubai's role as a global aviation hub.
With these accolades, flydubai reported its strongest annual results to date, achieving a record-breaking AED 2.5 billion (USD 674 million) profit before tax for the year ending December 31, 2024. As flydubai looks towards the future, it remains committed to delivering exceptional service and enhancing the travel experience for its passengers.
