Dubai International Airport (DXB) has been honoured with the Airports Council International (ACI) Safety Recognition Award 2025, acknowledging its innovative and comprehensive approach to safety and operational resilience. The award was presented during the 2nd ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Regional Assembly in New Delhi.

The safety strategy at DXB is renowned for its forward-thinking approach that blends innovation, data, and collaboration. At the heart of this strategy are several key elements designed to ensure operational agility, cybersecurity, and comprehensive coordination.

In light of growing cyber threats targeting critical infrastructure, Dubai Airports has implemented a robust cybersecurity strategy using the Zero Trust Model. This framework distrusts all network entities by default, with the deployment of VMware vDefend Firewall with Advanced Threat Prevention enhancing internal network visibility and incorporating distributed intrusion detection/prevention systems to mitigate sophisticated cyberattacks and ransomware risks in real time.

Emergency and Contingency Readiness is another crucial element in DXB's safety strategy. In response to regional geopolitical tensions affecting airspace, Dubai International activates emergency operational plans coordinated by regulatory bodies to ensure passenger safety, smooth flow, and service quality. This includes boosting qualified personnel on the ground 24/7 and providing support to stranded passengers with accommodations and logistical aid.
