E-commerce giant Flipkart teams up with ride-hailing service Uber, serving daily necessities to customers in three urban areas.
In a significant move to support the nation during the ongoing fight against COVID-19, Flipkart, one of India's leading e-commerce platforms, has partnered with ride-hailing giant Uber. This partnership aims to deliver essential goods to people staying indoors, consolidating a new last-mile delivery service.
The collaboration, announced in Bangalore, India, promises to provide Flipkart customers with the convenience of receiving essential hoodies at their doorsteps every day. Rajneesh Kumar, the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Flipkart, commented on the partnership, stating that the aim is to move essential supplies from sellers/vendors to customers in the shortest possible time.
Uber has pledged not to charge any commission for this service, ensuring that drivers can keep 100 percent of billed amounts. This partnership not only provides a lifeline for those in need of essential supplies but also creates earning opportunities for Uber drivers.
In line with government guidelines for containing the COVID-19 pandemic, the partnership supports the objective of keeping people at home. To ensure the safety and hygiene of drivers, all those associated with this service are being provided with masks, gloves, sanitisers, and safety training.
The partnership is not just about keeping vital supply chains running but also about supporting governments in the delivery of essential supplies. It extends to cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, and Delhi, ensuring that people in these areas receive the necessary goods during the national lockdown.
Flipkart, in its commitment to supporting its customers during this national fight against COVID-19, is mobilising all possible options to ensure essential supplies are delivered to people staying indoors. This partnership with Uber is a significant step in that direction, aiming to keep the economy running during these challenging times.
