There are five men standing and holding a flag. I think this a name board, which is attached to the building wall. This is a building with the windows. I think these are the kind of lamps. I can see a door, which is closed. On the right side of the image, I can see another board, which is attached to the wall.

EC asks home ministry to ensure security of RO, AROs offices

The Election Commission (EC) has taken steps to tighten security ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum. With polling day set for February 12, officials are now focusing on protecting staff, documents, and equipment at key election offices across the country.

A formal request was sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday to ensure safety at all returning and assistant returning officer locations.

The election schedule was announced on December 11, alongside a gazette notification confirming the appointment of returning officers and their assistants. Their role is to oversee smooth polling operations.

In its latest letter, the EC asked the ministry’s senior secretary to arrange sufficient police presence at these offices. The move aims to prevent disruptions and safeguard personnel, sensitive materials, and voting equipment during the election period. Security concerns were highlighted due to potential law and order challenges. The EC stressed the need for extra measures to protect both staff and electoral assets in the lead-up to February 12.

The request to the Home Affairs Ministry covers the deployment of additional police at all relevant offices. This step follows the EC’s earlier announcement of the election timetable and the appointment of key officials.

The focus remains on maintaining order and securing the electoral process before and during voting.
