Eden Township’s $1.5M building project stalled by state budget delays

Eden Township has applied for a $1 million finance grant for a new building project, but the money is on hold due to a state budget impasse. The township's preliminary budget for 2026, which includes a small tax increase, has been approved. The final budget will be reviewed and approved by December.

The Eden Township Board of Supervisors approved the preliminary budget on Nov. 10, with a property tax rate increase from 1.15 mills to 1.18 mills. This means an additional $3 for a property assessed at $100,000. The board aims to construct a new township building, with the project estimated at $1.5 million. The budget shows $696,610 in revenue and carried-over funds to cover $606,243 in expenses. The township has $425,000 in its building fund for the project, which has been in the planning stages for a year. The final budget will be advertised and available for inspection before its final approval in December.
