Eichenau Council Greenlights Meisenstraße Expansion Despite Local Backlash
Eichenau town council has approved plans to expand Meisenstraße, despite strong opposition from local residents. The €910,000 project will now move forward, with construction expected to start next year after further discussions.
A motion by the SPD to delay the expansion was rejected during the council meeting. Eight members, including all SPD and EBV representatives, voted against the decision. Their opposition, however, was not enough to block the project.
Residents had raised concerns about the impact of the roadworks on their neighbourhood. Many expressed disappointment after the council’s final vote. Despite their objections, the majority of councillors backed the expansion plan.
The next steps involve additional council talks before construction begins in 2025. The project remains on track, with no further delays anticipated.
The expansion of Meisenstraße will now proceed as planned, with work set to start in the coming year. The council’s decision confirms the project’s funding and timeline, though local opposition continues. Further discussions will take place before construction officially begins.
