Elche's MAHE Opens 'De la reforma al dogma' Exhibition Celebrating Misteri d'Elx's History

Elche's Museo Arqueológico y de Historia (MAHE) has opened an exhibition titled 'De la reforma al dogma: La Festa en temps de canvi (1924‐1950)', exploring the rich history of the Misteri d'Elx. This exhibition, part of Elche's Jubilee Year marking the 75th anniversary of the Dogma of the Assumption, will remain open until March 2026.

The exhibition delves into the evolution of the Misteri d'Elx from the 1920s to 1950, showcasing its musical reforms and recovery. Visitors can explore photographs, original musical scores, historic posters, publications, and archival documentation that illustrate this pivotal chapter of Elche's heritage.

Key figures such as Oscar Esplá and Pedro Ibarra played crucial roles in the Misteri d'Elx's revival during the mid-20th century through their musical reform and performance efforts. The exhibition highlights the recently restored mantle of the Virgin of the Assumption, which will be on display starting November 3, 2025.
