Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Evasive Maneuver - Elderly cyclist critically injured after swerving to avoid oncoming car
A 77-year-old cyclist was severely injured in Nordhausen after a close call with a car at a poorly visible junction. The cyclist managed to avoid a collision with the vehicle but unfortunately hit a nearby utility box. The incident occurred when the cyclist, riding through the poorly visible junction, had to swerve to avoid an approaching car. Despite the quick maneuver, the cyclist couldn't prevent a fall and collided with a distribution box on the side of the road. The driver of the car was unharmed and no contact was made between the car and the bicycle. Emergency services rushed to the scene and found the cyclist with serious head injuries and abrasions. They were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The cyclist's condition is currently being assessed, with authorities investigating the cause of the accident. No arrests have been made, and the driver of the car is cooperating with the investigation. Safety measures at the junction are being reviewed to prevent similar incidents in the future.
