Elderly cyclist dies after Berlin bus collision in Moabit
An 81-year-old man has died in hospital after a collision with a bus in Berlin's Moabit district last week. The accident happened on 20 August while the man was cycling along Perleberger Brücke toward Heidestraße. The crash occurred at around 4:10 p.m. when the cyclist lost control of his bicycle and collided with an oncoming M27 bus. Emergency services rushed him to hospital with serious head and back injuries. Despite treatment, he passed away early yesterday morning.
The case has now been transferred to the specialised traffic crimes unit of Police Directorate 2 (West). Investigators will examine the circumstances leading to the fatal incident.
Authorities have not released further details about the investigation or the events between the accident and the man's death. The specialised unit continues to review the case under traffic offence regulations.
